Guitar Etudes

acoustic guitar

A set of six acoustic guitar etudes, the work explores shifting intervallic colors—from thirds and tritones to sixths and sevenths—blending technical focus with expressive character.

Premiered by: Tim Callobre (guitar)

Venue: University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California

Guitar Etudes is a set of six etudes for the acoustic guitar, with the first and sixth featuring the interval of the major and minor 3rd, the second and fifth featuring tritones, and the third and fourth utilizing major and minor 6ths and 7ths. The piece is dedicated to my good friend and musical colleague from my days in the LA Phil’s Composer Fellowship Program, Tim Callobre, an intensely gifted guitarist and composer in his own right.
